Quick item on the New City store: That location was the site of a Bradlees-Stop & Shop-MediMart "Mini City" shopping center at least as far back as the 1960s. Stop & Shop sold the supermarket to A&P, which reopened it first as a regular A&P, and then as an A&P FutureStore before eventually converting it to a Waldbaum's location. The Waldbaum's and Bradlees both closed around 2001, and the plaza was largely vacant until everything was demolished for the construction of a new Super Stop & Shop roughly 10 years ago.
ReplyDeleteSeparately, there was a Grand Union in New City, but it was located further south on Main Street in the Clarkstown Mall shopping center. That space became a DeCicco Family Market.
Medford was built in 2005 to replace a former Finast/Edwards/Stop & Shop in the same shopping center where Savers and Planet Fitness now are.
ReplyDeleteSayville is a former Grand Union, as was Deer Park and West Islip (though the original GU/S&S was knocked down for a rebuild in late 00's)
Also this is missing a lot of locations, Farmingville, Southampton, East Hampton, another Huntington one (last three were former Waldbaums)
